In 1947 the Ash celebrated 'Some 50 years' playing at their much envied ground which is now the site of the roundabout at the top of Pannal Ash Road, bottom of Beckwith road and top of Whinney Lane.

The pitch itself was on the farmland owned by the Daniel family, a name synonymous with the club for over a century.

The square itself provided a track recognised as one of the 'Finest in the district' although the outfield had farm animals grazing on it during the week which had to be chased off before the game started.

Here we see groundsman Mr Roebuck preparing another fine wicket.

The cramped little dressing rooms, which saw so many triumphs and memories,
are pictured below.

The little benches which can be seen at the front, are still in use at Bluecote Wood

For anyone growing up in Pannal Ash in the first half of the twentieth century, the Ash ground had a special place in their hearts.

Below we see many famous names attending a dedication ceremony of a new bench,
presented in memory of Mr Jackson.

As the fifties wore on the Harrogate population grew . The building boom crept ever closer to the Ash's pitch (see www.pannal-ash.org.uk ) until the Daniel family sold off their land, including the Ash ground.

We then had to move to Irongates field, the roller and other equipment being rolled along the road to transport them to their new home!
