Treasurer Richard Turner is sending out the call for ALL members to pay their annual subscriptions.
As noted on the back of the Members' Handbook, the amount to be paid is as follows:
Wednesday ONLY £15
Annual Subscription £30

COME ON THE REST OF YOU - WE NEED YOU ALL TO PAY ASAP
(3rd August 2008)
***** EVENING LEAGUE ***** - We have had two games this week: Little Ribston 'B' on Monday and Scotton 'B' on Wednesday. We won both games.
In each game we played at least one junior player who each contributed towards the victories and showed great promise for the future.
See the report against Little Ribston 'Here' and against Scotton 'Here'.
Two defeats for closest rivals Gas Sports means we now have two games to play next week, and if we win both games we will seal promotion.
The game on Monday is at home to Little Ribston 'B' and on Wednesday we are away to Staveley.

*****EVENING LEAGUE ***** - We are somewhat behind on match reports - come on Mark, catch up!
After a great start to the season we had gone off the boil somewhat with three straight defeats.
However, we got back on track with a 99 run victory at Burnt Yates 'B' on Wednesday
16th July. A top batting performance saw us reach 208 for 4 with James Thompson (59),
John Leedham (56) and Rob Clarke (46 not out) leading the way.
A great bowling performance from Joe Buckley (5 for 10) paved the way for a stunning final over from Rob Clarke, which included knocking back the off stump of yates skipper
Jeff Broughton.
Thankfully enough fielders got to him in time to prevent the topless celebration!!
After this week's games the table reads as follows:

***** ANNOUNCEMENT ***** - It is with great sadness we have to report the passing away of long-standing Life Member George Bainbridge and we pass on our deepest sympathy to his family at this time.
A number of George's old colleagues have been in touch, they have all confirmed how much they enjoyed their time on and off the field in George's teams. George still holds the record as the only Ash captain to win a divisional trophy in the Nidderdale League when he won the 2nd Division in 1960.

Good night George.

***** NIDDERDALE LEAGUE - 2008 PREVIEW ***** - We return to the fifth division for the first time since 2004, having finished as runners-up to Darley 2nds in 2007 in our division 6 campaign.
We have retained most of last year's squad, but say goodbye to Tom Evanson (emigrated to Canada) and Clive McClelland (retired) many thanks to both of you for your valued contributions to the club. We hope to announce our new faces soon.
In previous years, the promoted teams have done well with Ouseburn 2nds (runners-up) and Crakehall (5th) finishing in the top half of the table.
The sides relegated from division 4, Bishop Thornton 2nds and Raskelf 2nds, will be keen to get back on track. Last year we beat Knaresborough Forest 2nds and Birstwith 2nds on the way to the semi-finals of the Wath Cup, so know we can at least hold our own at this level. Games against Harrogate Gas Sports should interesting, they rent our ground and both sides will be keen to earn bragging rights.
Also in the division are old Harrogate League rivals Marton-cum-Grafton and Studley Royal 3rds, Ripley 2nds and last year's third place team Thornton Watlass who should all provide decent opposition.
All in all we are looking to maintain the momentum from last year and, as we enter our 50th year in the Nidderdale League, we must be looking for another year of promotion and look to win the division for only the second time in this period.
(19th April 2008)
***** NETS ***** - There will be Junior and Senior nets on Sunday 6th April.

Some key points to emerge include:
* Richard Turner to take over as Treasurer, replacing long-serving Denis Oram - many thanks for years of hard work Denis!!
* James Thompson (Nidderdale and James Burke (Evening) to lead the 2008 sides - let's hope for better weather this season.
* We continue to cement our links with Pannal Sports Juniors FC, a three year agreement and additional age groups 'using' Bluecote wood are all in the pipeline.
* Vice Presidents - as the club looks to progress in the future, we are keen to maintain our links with the past. We are delighted to confirm that Gavin Little, Alan Pitt and David Astwood have accepted the invitation to this important position. We will look to add to this number as the opportunity arises.
* Life Members - we have two new appointments to report here ........... John Littlewood, our current President, has been associated with our club since 1963 and we are delighted he has accepted this honour. Also, Denis Oram is welcomed into this exclusive club, he has been connected with the club since the mid-1980's with the last ten as Treasurer.
In the long history of the club we have only previously appointed 7 life members. The first appointee was Mr R H Ward in 1946 as a reward for twenty eight years service with our club and the Harrogate and District Cricket League.
Following Mr Ward has been Charlie Daniel, Stan White, Eddie Ward, Barrie Spedding,
Bill Ward and current appointees George Bainbridge (1976) and Martin Turner (2001).
