Match  Report

Pannal Ash  v   Darley

The last day of the season and with promotion already assured, we should have been able to sit back and enjoy the occasion, BUT the shambolic nature of Saturday's defeat at Galphay meant we were taking it seriously ......... even if Darley only had NINE men!

Stand-in skipper, James Thompson, won the toss and decided to bat first with Steve West and Oli Halliday opening the innings.

A touch of misfortune saw the end of West for 7, run out as the bowler deflected a drive onto the stumps to leave him stranded.

We then saw some excellent big hitting from Halliday (64), Joe Buckley (38), Reg Turner (19) and Ali Bowles (24 no) as we reached 178 for 5 in our 16 overs.

In reply, Ali Bowles (3 for 20) led the way as the reply never got going.  J Furniss (21) and M Beecroft (24) the only batsmen to reach double figures as the innings closed on 97 for 7.
