An Ash team containing debutant Jon Trotter (following in the footsteps of hid dad, Andy) and Tom Bradley, making his seasonal debut, went to top of the table Galphay & Winksley with high hopes.
Skipper, Rob Clarke, lost the toss and we were put in to bat but openers James Thompson (1) and Ali Bowles (7) both fell to Andy Mason (3 for 28) who took advantage of some strange bounce.
To be honest, it was a pretty poor batting performance as only Ned MCClelland (15), Richard Turner (10), Neil Laurence (21) nd Rob Clarke (39) reached double figures.
As well as Mason, Mark Rimmer (4 for 17) and Eddie Walmsley (3 for 15) didn't have to bowl that well as we limped to 129 all out.
After tea and a pep talk from skipper 'Denzel' Clarke, we were looking for an early breakthrough and got it, as Ned McClelland nipped one back to clean bowl the prolific andy Mason (8).
Opener Eddie Walmsley (71) mixed some big heaves with some big misses, much to the frustration of the bowlers and fielders, as he and Rob Taylor (33 not out) took the home team through for an 8 wicket victory.
This was a totally unacceptable, spineless performance and with only a few more games left we need to improve attitude and results or end up being dragged into a relegation scrap!
