Match  Report

Pannal Ash   v   Lofthouse & Middlesmoor

The Ash team had a name missing from the first team for the first time since 2005, all-rounder Mark taylor was absent at a wedding.  We also lost Ben Turner to a late call off, so we were down to 10 men.

Lofthouse were missing both their opening batsmen, but still had a formidable look to their side.

Job Buckley had worked overtime on friday afternoon to get the round looking good for the big game, so all the rain overnight wasn't welcome.

Again, we lost the toss and had to overcome a hostile opening spell from Craig Costello and Simon Bell; things weren't looking good at 6 for 3 and 11 for 4 in the 12th over before Ned McClelland (54) and Rob Clarke (27) worked hard on a recovery.

Ned was very unfortunate to be run out when the bowler deflected the ball onto the stumps, but Joe Buckley (57 not out) continued his big-hitting form.

We were all out off the second to last ball for 157, a fantastic effort after the traumas at the start of the innings.

In replay, Lofthouse made a steady start with Paul Kennedy (37) , Ben Challis (27) and Craig Costello (25) to the fore and at 104 for 4 looking to be favourites.

The introduction of Chris Horner saw an incredible collapse as Chris took 7 wickets for 30 runs to seal a 40 run victory and wild celebrations!!
