Pannal Ash took the Briden Cup from Bilton at the County Ground, Harrogate, on Tuesday evening of last week by topping the holder's score with a single over to spare.
Play began on Monday and was curtailed by a thunderstorm when Bilton, the holders, had scored 62 for 3. On Tuesday they took their total to 92 for 7 in the permitted 25 overs.
For their winning reply in 24 overs, Pannal Ash owed much to Guest, who played a model innings of 49, which included 5, 4's.
On both evenings the match was watched by some hundreds of spectators and the Harrogate and District General Hospital is expected to benefit by about £50. The cup was presented to A Newbould, the captain of Pannal Ash, by Mrs W H King, the wife of the President of the Harrogate and District Amateur Cricket League.
Introducing Mrs King, Mr J W Drake thanked Mr O S Briden, the donor of the trophy. Mr K Roome and Mr Guy Ezart, the past and present hon secretaries of the local league, for their assistance and the Harrogate Cricket and Athletic Club for the use of the ground.
